Eny Lee Parker on her collaboration with Mitzi Lighting

New York City-based ceramicist, artist, and designer, Eny Lee Parker reclaims the essence of past "makers" and traditional crafts - embracing slowness, intention, and respect for natural resources - to create contemporary designs that bring awareness to both living and non-living things. Eny brings this same philosophy to her Mitzi Tastemaker collection, Mitzi x Eny Lee Parker. Keep reading for Eny’s take on the inspiration and process behind each design.

I gravitate towards slow growth, prioritizing work balance, my team, and our clients instead of trends, fast production, and sales. Just like our studio’s steady development, our pieces develop with us, as we are constantly learning how to make them better. This collection is a nod to that process, inspired by pieces I had once created or would want in my own home. I focused on translating them into a timeless and classic collection, without losing the fun we like to bring in our pieces.

The Marina collection was inspired by the first-ever pendants I created during an artist residency. The interlocking rings and delicate aged brass details create a beautiful balance, while the hooked metal accents make the elongated matte white shade appear to float in midair.

Bacia, meaning bowl in Portuguese, features a matte white ceramic shade delicately surrounding an opal matte globe. The sconce is simple, subtle, and adaptive in nature, making it just as comfortable in a rustic farmhouse kitchen as in a clean, modern living room.

Maia is my most intimate design. It is inspired by a photograph of my family, who immigrated to Brazil where I was born. A Korean family standing in front of Pão de Açúcar Mountain in Rio de Janeiro. The base of the lamps is the mountain, and the triangular shade resembles the roofs of ancient homes in Korea. It is subtle, timeless, and meaningful.

The Celia sconce is truly one of a kind. Subtle in shape and classic in design, the gorgeous shade is a fusion of 3 different kinds of glass. Each piece is highly unique, creating visual interest when both lit and unlit.

The contemporary Bibi collection was inspired by my upholstered BB stools. With its neutral palette and variety of fixture options, there’s a place for this stylish and versatile piece in any room of the home. The endless styling possibilities of the two-directional sconce have landed it as my favorite product in the line.

The Elsa collection was the most challenging yet fun piece to create! I was really excited to do the Elsa collection, which is a little more organic. It’s inspired by cherry blossoms in Korea, but toned down and modernized.

An elegant piece that brings whimsy to the room, the Tuli collection creates a stunningly artistic presence on the wall. Meant to resemble a tulip - the delicate petals embrace the light source, filling the ceramic white satin shade with a gorgeous glow.
