Desert Modern Decoded

Desert Modern Decoded

While the desert has long been a fixture of classic Americana, it’s recently experienced a renaissance among the millennial jet set. With locales like Palm Springs, Joshua Tree, and Santa Fe to choose from, it’s no surprise that our design appetites have shifted as well.

Enter, Desert Modern. Our latest emerging trend marries the natural beauty of the desert with modern metals and finishes. Layered textures, soft neutrals, and natural woods set the scene, creating a wonderland of bohemian delights. Caution: wanderlust awaits.

Freda Wall Sconce, Design: Brit Arnesen of @britdotdesign

In this design by Brit Arnesen, clean and contemporary wall sconces offset a natural stone console and wicker mirror. Desert Modern is all about embracing an eclectic mix of new and old.

When it comes to light fixtures, choose pieces that will contrast the natural elements in the room. No one embodies the Desert Modern vibe like Rae Michalik. Her design hideout near Joshua Tree is truly blissful.

Taylor Wall Sconce

Choosing the perfect finish can seem daunting. Aged brass lends vintage appeal while soft black adds an unexpected edge. We live for a high contrast moment like this scene featuring the Taylor Wall Sconce.

Bailee Floor Lamp, Design: Megan McLeod

Maybe you love the trend but can’t tackle an entire room yet. Curate a vignette with new artwork, accessories, and a floor lamp.
