If you have a not-so-large apartment or home, you may find it difficult (at first) to style your space. If you’re like us, you want your home to exude positive energy, feel homey, and be on-trend.
Making every inch count is a must, and we understand that can be challenging. That’s why we jumped on the opportunity to work with Apartment Therapy for their Small/Cool NYC event.
Apartment Therapy’s founder and CEO invented Small/Cool back in 2005 as a contest to find the smallest, coolest, real-life space in NYC. Seventeen years later, Small/Cool is an immersive, shoppable event where twelve talented designers brought 12 of 2022’s biggest design trends to life — all in less than 120 square feet.
Keep scrolling to explore a few of the incredible spaces on display at this year’s event.
Lenore 6 Light Chandelier l @julietaalvarez
Here is Julieta Alvarez’s take on Pastoral Charm. She believes that statement pieces should be more traditional and timeless. This room features warm finishes, natural textures, and colors, as well as old-world details to create an artful, lived-in look.
Flora 4 Light Chandelier l @jennapilant
If you’re a fan of color, be sure to check out Jenna Pilant’s room, Walls That Wow. Jenna’s maximalist style and eye for color harmoniously combine to create one seriously cool space.
Vicky 1 Light Table Lamp l @mcdamnright
Stark contrast always makes a space stand out. That’s the guiding philosophy behind Miles McDermott’s design, Wanderlust Fulfilled. His dynamic use of black and white takes you on a faraway journey without leaving your couch.
Bailey 8 Light Chandelier & Whit Wall Sconces l @petilau_aristofreak
When designing a room, ask yourself, “what story is this space telling?” It’s that question that dictates all of Peti Lau’s designs. When creating A Collector’s Eye, Peti used her signature style: AristoFreak™ — a redefinition of boldness that elevates romance and Boheme with a taste for all things eclectic and cheeky.
Lani 1 Light Wall Sconce l @sovehome
Sourya Venumbaka believes good design shouldn't be out of anyone's reach. She's all about personalizing your space with one-of-a-kind objects and thoughtfully curated furnishings. Her space, Bespoke Style, is full of unique decor and boasts an inviting atmosphere.
If you are in the NYC area, now is the time to reserve your spot for the Small/Cool NYC event. The last weekend to attend is May 13th through May 15th. Walk-ins are welcome, but Apartment Therapy recommends registering in advance. If you’re not in the city, no worries! You can virtually explore all of the rooms on smallcool.com.
